September 13: Social Networking Awards 2011 Recognition Ceremony

On September 13, we will be recognizing the winners of the 3rd DigitalFilipino and Search Profile Index Social Networking Awards that intends to honor Filipino excellence in social media and social network marketing and advertising.

This will be at Le Bistro Vert, Fraser Place, Valero Street, Makati City from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

We are co-branding the awards this year with Search Profile Index.

Winners will recognized at the following categories:
  • Social Games
    Campaigns done or carried out in virtual worlds or games either as an independent effort or as an advertiser of the site.
  • Social News, Bookmarking, Media Voting 
    Campaigns that requires getting votes in social news, social bookmarks, social media, or related sites.
  • Photo / Video / Media Sharing
    Campaigns that involves sharing of photos, videos, or other media by the advertiser or submission of photos, videos, or other media by target audience or participants online.
  • Forums 
    Campaigns that promotes products, services, advocacies, among others availed or shared within forums.
  • Micro-blog
    Campaigns done through the use of micro-blogging sites like Twitter, Plurk, and other similar tools.
  • Blogs
    Campaigns done through blogs or tapping bloggers.
  • Search engine marketing
    Campaigns meant to raise your site's visibility in search engines to attract more visitors.
  • Location-based 
    Campaigns done using location-based services to promote an establishment or event.
  • Social Shopping
    Campaigns done that promotes products and/or services availed and/or shared in social networks.
  • Widget and Add-ons
    Campaigns done that requires widget installation or add-ons.
Winners will be requested to do a 5 minute presentation to share their campaign story and lessons learned.

October 4 to 6: Search Engine and Social Media Marketing Strategy Workshop

The Club, in collaboration with Search Profile Index, will be having its 4th workshop on "Search Engine and Social Media Strategy Workshop" this October 4 to 6, 2011 from 9 am to 4:30 pm at Ateneo Graduate School of Business #20 Rockwell Drive, Rockwell Center, Makati City. Target participants are entrepreneurs, marketing, and sales professionals who would like to explore further use of the Internet to promote their business online.

Search Profile Index was created to help companies assess their current or planned website versus their competition including online marketing and sales strategies. In addition, listen and monitor online conversations. Reports are produced on a monthly basis, giving insights and suggestions to its subscribers.

This workshop will:

  1. Discuss tips and techniques to get your site to the top of search engine rankings (e.g. Google, Yahoo and Bing) and stay there. 
  2. Help you create a social media strategy and work plan.
  3. Use tools (e.g. Search Profile Index) to monitor your website, search engine, and social media campaign performance.

Participants are requested to bring their own laptop. The venue has wi-fi Internet access. However, bringing of back-up Internet access gadget is encouraged. Note also that food is not included in this workshop.

Day 1: Creation of a Search Engine Marketing Plan

Discussion and Demonstration
Introduction of search engine marketing and optimization. Topics include:
  • Identify niche positioning for products and services that you will sell, target customers, buying frequency and motivation
  • Keywords discovery, attractiveness analysis and navigation
  • Competition analysis
  • Improving your website page titles, description, menus, body text, other assets and good content (on-page optimization)
Day 2: Creation of a Social Media Plan and Presence Online

Discussion and Demonstration
Techniques to improve ranking on search engine results and engage your readers. Topics include:
  • Web copywriting
    • Developing content designed for the buying cycle.
  • Creating your social media presence online
    • Social media plan development
  • Building an online footprint
    • Social bookmarking and tagging
    • Directory submission
    • Links through blog posts
    • Microblogging
    • Social Networks
Day 3 Plan Presentation and Monitoring Performance
  • Search Engine Marketing and Social Media Plan Presentation
  • Tracking results and calibrate
  • Using Search Profile Index to track performance.
  • Working with service providers
To earn a certificate of attendance from DigitalFilipino Club, participants should: 
  • complete the 3-days session
  • submit and present completed assignment work and any revision asked for through webinar on October 13, 2011.

Forming a Group: DTI Online Sales Promotion Permit Guideline Creation

The DigitalFilipino Club session with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) last July 28 has resulted to a series of events. We have 1 slot in the Technical Working Group to contribute insights for the creation of DTI Online Promotion Guidelines for Bloggers that covers with or without purchase required. These online promotions can be done in any of the following: discount, raffle, games, premium, redemption, and contest.

We are taking an active participation on this as there is an urgent need for the DTI Sales Promotion Permit Guidelines to be updated that shall recognize the nature of online promotions in its current policy. We want to push for a long-term, rather than quick-fix, in the current process.

Should you be interested in helping out with this task group, let me know.

Work includes:

1. Reading and understanding of current policies.

2. Identify which online promotion area(s) do you want focus on:
  • discount
  • raffle
  • games
  • premium
  • redemption
  • contest
  • application process
  • approval / disapproval process
  • data privacy
  • complaints filing
  • dispute resolution
3. Give inputs to improving drafts that DTI will circulate in the future. 4. Attend TWG meeting(s) offline or online. Whoever is most active and available can represent the group (using its 1 TWG slot) and share its concern and suggestions for provision improvements. For club members who will confirm (via e-mail), we will have our 2nd webinar session on August 29 from 1 pm to 2:30 where current policies shall be reviewed. I shall be discussing the working position draft as well for feedback.

The DigitalFilipino Club will be having a Social Media Marketing for Business & Social Networking Awards 2011 webinar happening on August 17 from 3 pm to 5 pm.
