Memorandum of Agreement: DTI-ECO and DigitalFilipino Club

(Last June 11, during the 10th Year Anniversary Celebration of the E-Commerce Law, I shared results of the Yahoo - AC Nielsen Net Index 2010 survey where the rate of e-commerce and e-banking usage in the Philippines is still pegged at 3%. There is still a lot of trust and security perception or concerns that hamper Filipinos from making full-blown transactions online. We decided to come up with this MOA to jumpstart aggressive e-commerce advocacy strategies and hope our members will actively participate in this endeavor.)

Memorandum of Agreement

This Memorandum of Agreement is between the E-Commerce Office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-ECO) represented herein by Director Maria Lourdes A. Yaptinchay and the DigitalFilipino Club (DF) represented herein by Janette C. Toral.

DTI-ECO and DF hereby agree to collaborate on the following areas, among others, to help increase the growth of e-commerce among Filipino consumers:

1. Training and Seminars (online and offline)

DTI-ECO and DF will come up a series of awareness training and videos on various e-commerce efforts, safe online shopping, e-commerce policies, and consumer protection policies in place today.

2. Policy Development and Awareness

DTI-ECO and DF will collaborate in crafting new policies and creating an advocacy to spread the word on existing policies.

3. Pilot projects

As necessary, DTI-ECO and DF come up with special projects and initiatives to boost the adoption of e-commerce in the Philippines among Filipino consumers.

Signed on this 11th day of June 2010 during the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the E-Commerce Law held at Room C of the Philippine Trade and Training Center, Roxas Boulevard corner Senator Gil Puyat Avenue, Pasay City.
